Karma

We’ve all heard or know about Karma on some level or another. I feel like I’ve spent the last three years clearing a lot of it and while it was rough, it was all for purpose and now it feels great to have leveled the playing field. And I’m not even talking about the ones from my past incarnations because on a conscious level I don’t even really know what those ones are without doing a past life regression. I think back at some of the shit I’ve done and just shake my head and have to laugh because like I’ve mentioned, I did a lot of stupid shit in the first half of my life lol. But that’s okay, I wouldn’t have it any other way really because now I finally see the lessons in it all. Most of it anyway.

By definition Karma is the totality of a persons actions conduct during successive incarnations, regarded as causally influencing their destiny. It also runs parallel to the Universal Law of Cause and Effect stating that nothing happens by chance signifying that the consequences of all the actions of a person in their current and previous lives, and the chain of cause and effect in morality. The easiest and best way to live ones life though at the end of the day is do like Jesus of Nazareth taught which is to do unto others as you would have done unto you. The good ole Golden Rule, hey now that I think about it, they actually did teach us something truthful in early education.

I’ve gotta say though, after reading about Karma in the book I’m currently reading, it has brought it to a whole new level for me bringing me so much clarity and understanding that I have to share. With that said these next few paragraphs are going to be straight out of Sun Signs by Linda Goodman…

The Merriam’s definition of Karma is only partially correct, the part about “determining a persons fate” is misleading. When you only give a glimpse of the truth, you leave truth seekers with false impressions. In this instance they’re led into believing that their personal fate or destiny is governed entirely by this mysterious force called Karma, since it’s represented to be totally in charge, without equivocation. Is the irresistible force of Karma as the dictionary definition indicates? Yes and no, it depends.

Karma is the determining factor in your destiny only when you allow it to be, by ignoring its inflexible laws. In this respect, it’s very like your astrological birth chart, which is logical, since your horoscope is simply a picture, using coded symbols, of all the major and still viable vibrations you’ve set up around yourself in this life, through your now forgotten actions in a series of past incarnations – and with which you must deal with in the current one.

The Law of Karma is based solidly upon the rock of Newton’s Law of Cause and Effect: for every action there’s a reaction. John hurts Mary, and Mary (in a future existence) meets John in a new body, with a different name (sometimes a different sex) – and hurts John back, through a dim awareness (on a subconscious, not conscious level) that he formally hurt her. Then comes a new lifetime for both, and now it’s Johns turn to hurt Mary again – then Mary’s to hurt John- with each becoming the channel for the other’s boomerang Karma in a chain of dreary, seemingly endless lives (incarnations).

Good grief, no pun intended, and I have to admit this helped put the puzzle pieces together for me personally when it comes to certain people (family) in my life. It’s like the lightbulb went off and now I completely understand the actions of certain people who did things that I would consider ultimate betrayals, wondering how on Gods green Earth they would have the capacity to do such things to people they would say that they love. Well now I know. And again I have to admit it was such a relief to know, whether it be a little or a lot, as to why certain events were taking place and most definitely 100% helped in the healing process of forgiveness. Then Linda Goodman goes on to explain that there’s two ways in which the chains of Karma can be broken, and the most important part if you ask me so the next two paragraphs are also direct quotes from her book.

  1. The one most recently hurt (in a previous existence) is John. He is enlightened to the truth of Karmic Law, and refuses to be the continuing channel for Mary’s Karma. He realizes that his inexplicable urge to hurt her is somehow “coming to her” (he senses this subconsciously) – but he makes a conscious decision to refuse to become a channel for her karmic retribution (what she has coming, under karmic law). In effect, Mary is forgiven by John , and the chain of Karma breaks. (Mary is fortunate.) A broken karmic chain brings freedom to both people who have been linked to it.
  2. John is not yet sufficiently enlightened to behave as described in the previous paragraph, but Mary is enlightened to the truth of karmic law, and responds to the hurt inflicted on her by John by saying to herself, (and meaning it), “what must have I done to this person to cause him to hurt me so? I’ve done nothing to cause such hurt in this life, but I must have hurt him in a former life or I wouldn’t be in this position. I can experience no luck, good or bad, that I didn’t bring on myself by initiating a like action in a former incarnation. Therefore, I not only deserve this, but perhaps more.” Mary, in other words, is willing to pay her karmic debt gracefully and willingly, without bitterness or resentment. Once Mary has accepted the hurt as her own responsibility, and hold no resentment to plant itself in the seed atom of the heart, and therefore be retained in subconscious memory in the next life, she has broken the chains of Karma through a different kind of forgiveness – through an understanding that will be carried over to the next existence when she meets John again.

That’s how it works. The karmic chain can be broken by either one of the two people bound by it, and keeping in mind you have karmic ties with many people, not just one. But I’ve gotta tell ya, it was a huge sigh of relief learning this information, a huge a-ha moment for me, and being able to see it from a different perspective. Knowing it can be broken either by the potential giver of the Karma, or by the potential receiver of the Karma was a game changer for me and for that I am truly grateful. I’m not gonna lie I’d been struggling (for lack of a better word however struggle strengthens) with forgiveness for people that I’m not gonna mention here because that part really doesn’t matter. While forgiveness may seem so easy, and it is quite easy to say, but when you’re truly sincere about it and not just giving lip service, because you best believe your Higher Self knows if you really mean it, when you’re really wanting to forgive someone it can be so much easier said than done. This is a prime example of why I say this book is changing my life. It feels pretty darn good to be free of karmic chains, yes it does.
