We’re all familiar with the movie and I knew when Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was released September of last year there was more to it than meets the eye. After doing some research the first time around I discovered Beetlejuice is actually the pronunciation of the giant fixed star Betelgeuse. I don’t think I published an article back then but know for a fact I journaled about it. Interestingly enough the movie keeps appearing in my YouTube feed and has been showing up for well over a week now.
The movie itself shows us a few things such as the ugliness of consumerism, greed and vanity. With Beetlejuice, the character, we see the trickster archetype who’s vulgar, disruptive, lawless and dangerous which I have to admit, I can kind of respect because at the same time he forces growth. I can relate. In a way he can be seen as a systems buster, especially for Lydia as he shows her the value of both the living and the dead. It can also be seen as a allegory for transition and how much humans don’t like even the idea of change.
Clearly Spirit is trying to tell me something which has me researching Betelgeuse once again. Without trying to figure anything out really, it has piqued my curiosity once again to want to know more. I called upon ChatGPT and asked for the scoop along with any esoteric connections. Apparently Betelgeuse is one of the most famous stars in the sky both astronomically and esoterically.
Astronomically speaking it’s located in the constellation Orion, making the hunters right shoulder. It’s a red supergiant nearing the end of its life cycle and is expected to supernova at some point, whether that’s 10 years or 10,000 nobody knows. When it does supernova (explode) it’ll be visible from Earth even in the daytime.
It’s 640 light years away and is over 1,000 times the diameter of our Sun. If you placed Betelgeuse in the center of our solar system, it would completely engulf Mars. Interestingly enough I also recently researched the constellation Orion and it’s relation to humanity. I also can’t help but feel a connection with the three dots on my tattoos to Orion’s belt. I’ve had these tattoos for years but never put two and two together until now.
Mystically speaking Orion is a cosmic archetype often linked to cosmic hunters, warriors or gatekeepers. Gatekeeper is a word that triggers something inside me, I don’t even know exactly why but every time it shows up I pay attention. I’m sure it has something to do with my ‘keeper/guardian of the souls’ profundity I had that one morning however long ago. In esoteric traditions, Orion represents the bridge between the material realm and higher dimensions. Bridge, another pay attention word.
Betelgeuse also has Kabbalistic connections. Kabbalah is a mystical religious philosophy rooted in Jewish teachings that seeks to understand the nature of God and humanity’s relationship with the divine. It stems from the Hebrew word which means to receive. The Kabbalah is associated with the Tree of Life which is basically a spiritual blueprint of the divine structure of the universe and path to enlightenment.
Coincidentally enough I also recently researched the angel number 9-11 and its association with the Tree of Life because it’s a number that follows me everywhere these days and has since I arrived in HB. The path from Yesod (9) to Da’at (11) represents the transformation of unconscious energy, instinct and imagination into higher knowledge, awareness and spiritual illumination which then bridges the personal subconscious with divine consciousness.
Back to our star Betelgeuse and now its relation to Egyptian lore. The Egyptians saw Orion as Osiris, the god of rebirth and the afterlife. In this case Betelgeuse would then symbolize part of Osiris’ body, the right shoulder, the arm of action and strength. They also saw the stars in Orion’s belt as the resting place of Osiris’ soul. Orion has also been linked to the origin and destiny of human souls, it can be considered a cosmic gateway. The three stars of Orion’s belt are sometimes seen as ‘markers’ of this gateway which align with sacred sights here on Earth like the Pyramids of Giza.
In esoteric astrology Betelgeuse is considered a fixed star of great power, honor and wealth. It’s also linked to some volatility with sudden rises and falls. It’s said to carry a Mars-Mercury energy, forceful action combined with intellect and communication. It symbolizes life-force, passion and destruction with its red glow and represents transformation with its eventual supernova. It’s seen as a cosmic death and rebirth cycle which can symbolize spiritual initiation.
Some esoteric traditions, and as I’ve already mentioned, see the star as a gateway, a portal for higher beings or advanced consciousness to enter our dimension. Haha, you don’t have to convince me there’s portals everywhere. I personally see it as a symbol of power and transformation, initiation and divine action. Am I a metaphoric Betelgeuse?
How it relates to me exactly and why it’s showing up right now is still a mystery that only time will tell. Haha, be careful they say, because every time I think I have it figured out…I don’t. I’m not supposed to figure it all out, I’m meant to live it out as it unfolds naturally, ascending in real time. It is eclipse season (which will last for six months) and I do know one thing for sure…
