The Metaphoric Bumblebee

The bumblebee flies because it doesn’t know it can’t. That’s the thought that popped into my head when I walked out my door Saturday afternoon and was greeted by a (black) bumblebee. It stopped me in my tracks as I was headed to work, it hovered in front of my face long enough for me to question whether or not it was gonna give me kisses. It truly was a magical moment. It’s the second time I’ve seen a bumblebee close enough for me to know it was sent for me.

Scientists once claimed that due to the aerodynamics of a bumblebee it technically shouldn’t be able to fly, it’s body is too big for its wings. I’ll call it an act of loving defiance, the bumblebee flies even though the laws of aerodynamics says it shouldn’t. The second I saw the cute little fella I immediately thought to myself it flies because it doesn’t know it can’t. Spirit has actually pointed it out to me twice in two different movies. Twice I’ve seen the story of the bumblebee achieving what others might think impossible.

Perhaps it’s a message to remind me that I am here to do extraordinary things and not to let anything get in my way, especially what others might not think possible. Now is the time to think the impossible possible. The bumblebee teaches us that the possibilities are limitless. A lesson maybe in how we shouldn’t even think so much about how something is going to happen and instead have faith in knowing anything is achievable with the right frame of mind. Being open to endless possibilities is key, a key to the unknown of what’s meant to be.

A reminder to never give up just because we don’t know the way. We’ve been conditioned to settle for the predictable, to set ourselves up for disappointment rather than taking risks of success. I heard someone say not too long ago that the only thing worse than rejection is the regret of never knowing. Rejection is simply a course correction that we tend to take personally. Never take anything personal which is something I’ve finally grasped, I’m still working on it but I finally understand it.

We’ve been taught that we have to figure everything out, how we’re going to achieve something before we can even think about having it, what resources we’ll need or have to have, do we have enough, etc. Of course these are necessary to a certain extent but what’s more important is the fact that feeling the lack of any or all of the above is what generally causes people to give up or feel unworthy, or fear something’s not attainable.

Never give up on your hearts desires. The divine knows no such limitations and make no mistake, we have the same divinity as the Creative Source. The power that creates worlds lives inside every single one of us. We are made of the same stuff as the stars and planets, it’s all in our DNA. This same power never withholds love or miracles, grace or guidance. This all flows in us and through us, all we need is to allow, trust and believe that it’s all possible. Love is the leap that never denies.

Let go of the fears, the unnecessary worry and all the doubts. Doubts crush dreams faster than failure. Release any negative self-talk. Release the need to always know what the next step is, what the next ten steps are. Stay in the present moment as much as possible knowing it’s the natural flow of your evolution to receive the next steps when the time is right. This is what I’m currently learning to understand. I have no idea what’s next for me, I just know this isn’t my final destination.

The bumblebee flies because it thinks it can, an important metaphor for believing in yourself, and in order to believe in yourself you must first love yourself. That means forgiving yourself for any and all past doings no matter what they may be, and believe me I have a very colorful past so I know it may seem like a tall order. Everything happens for a reason. Every reason comes with a lesson to be learned so learn it so you can learn more about yourself. Learn those lessons and keep going, move forward.

We’re here to get to know thyself, but more importantly humanity needs to learn to love thyself which is exactly what I’ve been doing since the day my mom left this beautiful planet. I didn’t realize that was the name of the game until recent but now I do so that’s my message for you today…love thyself. Believe in thyself. Appreciate today, this precise moment knowing that the more you work on bettering yourself the better everything will get.
