Idaho’s Farm Fresh Eggs, Falls Hidden Gem & Donner Rest Stop

We woke up in Moore, Idaho listening to the cows conversate, haha you never know when there could be some watchers in the mix. Watchers come in all shapes and sizes. Moore, Idaho with a population of about 300 was nothing short of relaxing, peaceful and gorgeous. Ber’s friend Jeremy (and family) have the nicest property right in the middle of nowhere which I have to admit is somewhere I could see myself living. A dirt road, distant neighbors where everybody knows your name and there’s no city pollution of any kind. Nothing says yes please to me like a small town, farm fresh eggs and cattle calling with peace and quiet.

Talk about night sky, different but the same when it came to the majestic qualities of the twinkles in the stars. We actually were blessed with the Milky Way in full effect and were once again simply blown away. I wish my camera cooperated but perhaps it was meant to be admired in the moment. We were also spoiled with some farm fresh eggs and I couldn’t help but purchase three dozen for the rode. The more I’m experiencing country life, the more I’m wanting to dive right in.

It was difficult to leave this country side paradise but with check-in right around the corner our departure was inevitable. It wasn’t long into our drive when we discovered another one of Idaho’s hidden gems and that was Idaho Falls where this oasis once again took our breath away. It looked surreal tucked deep hugging the Snake River, the Greenbelt is a system of trails with a waterfall and huge bridge where we witnessed six base jumpers preparing to launch themselves over.

As much as we wanted to stay and watch we had to keep moving because the following day we were checking into Veronicas View in Oakhurst, California. After driving a better part of the day we set up camp in Reno, Nevada at the Cracker Barrel only to be woken up at 3am by security notifying us we had to leave. We stayed here last year I said through my widow from my top bunk, well then that’s because you got away with it he replied. Unbeknownst to us every Cracker Barrel is different with their own set of rules and long story short, we had to bounce.

This is what being flexible is all about so no more questions asked I did what I had to do, let Amber remain in bed and got behind the wheel and just started driving. It wasn’t long before I saw a neon sign that read Donner’s rest stop 12 miles. Donner Pass Rest Area is actually in California so it was somewhat comforting to find myself finally back in my home state. The following morning I couldn’t help but notice it too was another hidden gem with it’s beautiful pond just waiting to be admired. And beautiful it was. We didn’t stay long though because the clock was ticking and it was now Yosemite or bust.
