We arrived in Oakhurst, California just in time for check-in and were pleasantly surprised at the spacious beauty of it all. Amber discovered this hidden gem when we attended the wheelchair expo back in March of this year. She had an idea of what the house had to offer as everything was wheelchair accessible but I on the other hand had no idea what a treat I was in for.
It just worked out that I was able to settle in the master bedroom with it’s white king size bed and attached bathroom fully equipped with a shower and amazing bathtub. I felt like a queen of her castle every time I enjoyed the view from the sitting area in the room or took a bath which I did every single night because that’s just not a luxury I have at home. In fact I took a shower and a bath every night just because I could.

The name says it all because the view was fantastic no matter what time of the day it was. Most mornings we got California quails and a few nights we were blessed with about six deer with some of the young buck’s practicing their sparring for rut season.
The sunset’s didn’t disappoint and each evening we enjoyed them, different but the same. The house was synchronistically located off Road 222 and we captured 11:11 more than once on the clock.
Kimmy-pants rolled in not long after we checked in in her rental car with 777 in the license plate. It’s so easy to be myself with these two lady’s because they too are some of the loudest people I know and actually make me look quiet, haha, if you can believe that. What a great start to an even better week just hanging out having girl time and catching up. Kim cracked me up when she arrived and added to the list of one-liners when she said…
Then there’s Parker, always ready for the runway.
It was funny but also one of the nicest things I’ve ever heard. She’s right though, I don’t own a jogging suit and as a matter of fact grew up with my popo always saying never leave the house in sweatpants. What can I say, I’m honoring my mom’s legacy, and brother, because they both dressed to the nine. Neither one of them owned sweatpants either.
I guess when you’ve lived out of a suitcase too many times to want to remember, not to mention lived out of a car, I take a healthy pride in wanting to look my best. Let’s be real too, I’m a bargain shopper and thrift stores are my favorite so I don’t need designer anything, I just like to match. When you look like a million dollars, you feel like a million dollars, and when you feel like a million dollars, you are a million dollars.
The house is located a few miles from Bass Lake and about twenty from Yosemite. It has four bedrooms, a spacious garage/game room and sitting area out back for the views. It’s five miles from everything you need and like I mentioned completely wheelchair accessible. What a treat and great place to unwind, connect with nature and enjoy the company of others. Everything was amazing start to finish, highly recommend and can’t wait to book again.
One of the highlights was seeing a praying mantis above the front door right before we entered. You know my first inclination is to look up the spiritual meaning, a very cool and special insect indeed. The spiritual meaning of a praying mantis in or near your home often symbolizes patience, peace and stillness and can be interpreted as as a sign of divine protection and good luck.
It serves as a reminder to be calm, focus on your inner wisdom and make mindful, calculated decisions. It’s ‘praying’ posture can be seen as a sign of divine protection and the presence of angels. It encourages you to go within, connect with your inner wisdom and intuition and find peace and clarity.
In ancient Greece the praying mantis was believed to be an oracle capable of predicting the future. Every chance I get I love to look up spiritual meanings, it’s something I enjoy doing because it’s always a chance to learn and grow your own spiritual beliefs adding to the power of developing your own spiritual sovereignty which is what these next few decades will be all about.
