Sugar Pine Railroad & Bass Lake

On our last day in the Yosemite area we made reservations for the Sugar Pine Railroad. By this time Kimmy-pants had gone home so Ber and I went to check out the ‘scenic fun-filled excursion for the entire family through the Sierra National Forest’ that’s located ten minutes from the southern entrance of Yosemite. It was cute, historic, scenic and worth it to check out, especially if you’re traveling with children.

It reminded me of the train at Disneyland or Knott’s as it was outdoors and somewhat on the slower side of a locomotive. It was cool though and it was interesting to learn about the history. There’s also a little museum onsite along with a gift shop, and a picnic area that provides lunch if you pay ahead of time. Like I said, it was cute. They have a moonlight special ride that includes dinner and looked like it would be whimsical with all the lights strung and live entertainment.

I had a good laugh as they were boarding everybody and we received our final one-liner for the trip. The conductor reminds us that we will have random people being seating in each train and one of the passengers on the next train over says loud enoughfor everybody to hear…

Are they from planet Earth?

Not me I said somewhat under my breath without missing a beat which surprised even me. Amber and I laughed and it reminded me of a time a customer came into my work and said ‘greetings all loudI responded quickly again, almost instinctively with greetings earthling! Haha, if you ask me, nobody says greetings except aliens.

After the locomotive extravaganza we headed to Bass Lake to check it out. We’d driven by and through it numerous times as it was also off Road 222 and you had to to get to Yosemite. Today we were stopping to check out some trails and see Girdy in action. Bass Lake is beautiful and I could see myself living there of course, in a little house by the residential docks, yes please.
